Authentic NY/Neapolitan style pizza with hand stretched dough, fresh ingredients and baked at high temperature directly on the hearth of the oven for a charred, crispy but chewy crust. Locally made, cured meats and incredibly fresh, locally made mozzarella cheese.
I love this place so much I drive out from Vancouver whenever I can. The crust is "crispchewy," the sauce is bright and fresh tasting, and all the toppings are delicious. The owners were friendly and made us feel at home. The only problem is they could use a few more tables but I would stand if I had to.
Well worth the drive.
So I have been living out west for a little over 5 years and have not had any luck with finding good pizza joint,so when i stumbled upon this web site and read all the reviews I was excited. Could there be a great pizza joint out here and is it possible that its in Abbotsford just a few blocks from where I live?
I had the meat lovers and it was terrible not even close to tasting good
,had very little cheese,the toppings were sread out very thin,I'm sure they were fresh but way to salty and the crust had a very thin hard layer on the bottom of it that was difficult to chew.
The cost was 34 dollars for a large pizza, way over priced............
Picked up a couple of pies from Ah-Beetz after reading all the positive reviews and wasn't disappointed. The owners Terry and his wife Heather are very friendly and welcoming. While the prices are high compared to what you might be used to paying for pizza, the quality of the ingredients and the taste make it definitely worth it. You really can taste that everything is fresh and of high quality. We were invited to smell the new olive oil that they were importing to use on the pizzas and its rich floral bouquet was amazingly intense.
Pizzas ordered were a small Margherita and a small Salsiccia. Both were incredibly flavourful and the small size was enough for a proper meal for one with a couple of slices left over (the pizza reheats well in the oven).
While I can't justify going out to Abbotsford just to pick up pizza, I will certainly be planning more trips to the area that will include a stop at Ah-Beetz!
I heard about Ah-Beetz from some friends who ranted and raved about how incredible it is. Anytime people rant and rave about something I immediately prepare myself for a disappointment. My experience has taught me that people throw around words like "Incredible" where they don't belong.
Ah-Beetz is the exception. The pizza it truly outstanding. You don't be disappointing!
The pizza was amazing! You could taste how fresh the dough was, the ingredients were fresh and it came out piping hot! We got the meat lovers and spagnoula and it was delicious! Both had just the right amounts of toppings! It should be consistant each time you order as they measure out how much cheese and other toppigs to put on. They are starting to make their own new York style cheesecake! By the way, if you are a thick crust kind of guy, this place is not for you.
The service was great - my friends and I went early for fear of them running out of dough so on their down time the staff were talking to us and gave us an extra pop :)
The pizza is no architecture winning place but what is cool is that you get to watch you pizza being made, and there's a small tv to watch. There are only a couple of tables though so eating in would be hard if there's a lot of people. You definitely go there for the pizza, not the decor.
We ordered 2 large pizzas and had 4 cokes and it came up to 57$. Well worth It when you taste it. I'm going back there in a couple of months...I would go back more often if it was closer!
We randomly found this place by googling "Vancouver" and "best pizza". Upon visiting Ah-Beetz's website and seeing the amazing pizza-photos, learning that they make their own mozzarella, and viewing their simple, thoughtful menu, we decided to make the trek out to Abbotsford and try a pie. After trying some of the best pizza places in New York, and being disappointed with Vancouver's offerings to date (Marcello's, Lombardo's, Incendio etc.) we thought we would be underwhelmed, but we weren't - we were thrilled to have finally found the best pizza place in the Lower Mainland!
We tried a margherita pizza and a Di Faras (named after the famed Brooklyn pizzeria) and they were both heavenly. Ah-Beetz's thin crust has a flavourful, sourdough taste, nicely charred for a smokey flavour, with a good slightly chewy texture, the tomato sauce was intense and sweet, the housemade fior di latte (fresh mozzarella) was creamy and tangy, and the salty grana padano rounded out all the flavours nicely. The owner/pizza maker is clearly passionate about pizza. We watched him making each pie himself by hand, saw how he carefully shaped each ball of dough into a perfectly round pie, spread out the perfect amount of sauce and toppings, and finished each pie off off with a snipping of fresh basil- Dom DeMarco would be proud!
If you love pizza, and love food made with passion, do yourself a favour and make the trek out to Ah-Beetz, you won't be disappointed!
I have worked as a chef in many countries of the world, ate pizza in
many countries of the world my favorite used to be Milanese pizza (Pizza alla Bismark) but that has changed now that I have had Ah-Beetz pizza.
I've had Ah-beetz pizza a couple of times now and it's the best New York style pizza I've had. A nice char on the bottom, perfectly thin crust and top quality ingredients make it well worth the drive to Abbotsford.
I usually have the half Spanuolo/Fuoco, both pizza's are made with Terry's (one of the owners) own cured meat recipes, fresh mozzarella and finished with a nice drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a julienne of fresh Basil. All the quality ingredients make it well worth the price.
Although it's not much of a dine in restaurant Terry and Heather make the atmosphere warm and welcoming like you know them. Just a couple of table and an open kitchen so you can watch your pizza being made and chat about their pizza philosophies.
It takes passion to make great food, Terry and Heather
definitely prove that with the quality of pizza they produce.

Tried Ah-Beetz for the first time last night and enjoyed their pizza. We had the IL MIO AMORE with Calabrese salami, camelized onions, roasted garlic, tomato sauce, aged mozzarella, fior di latte, extra virgin olive oil & Grana Padano. Fresh basil is hand cut on top afterwards. I can see some people finding it a tad salty but that's how I like it. We dined in which is not something I would recomend on a first date although the staff were very personable.
I ate at AH-BEETZ for the first time a few days ago and have already been back two more times. My wife and I ordered the "Il mio amore" which had roasted garlic, carmalized onions and Calabrese salami. It was hands down the best pizza I have ever had. I have been to NY several times and this was even better. The guy there uses really fresh mozzarella and really high qualty extra virgin olive oil which was so good that I asked him to put extra oil on my pizza. I liked the pizza so much that I've been back twice at lunch time for slices. The only drawbacks to this place are no liquor license(it would be nice to have a glass of wine with the pizza) and the decor/lighting. I guess the decor is pretty good but the place feels a little like a cafeteria because of the fluorescent lighting.
