home cook taste and convenient

The family run this restaurant Pho 99 is in a very convenient location on Alexandra Road, Richmond across from the hotel La Quinta. Unconventionally clean for an asian restaurant, nice decoration, good prices and free parking. Great flavored broth, good value, pleasant staff and convenient location. Especially these food here taste like home cook, not too much MSG because i am allergic with them. That why i fall in love with PHO 99. It brings me back here every other day either for lunch or dinner. They also have many other offering if pho isn't your thing. I would dare say that this is the best vietnamese restaurant in...

Food is Superb - But is Unfortunately Now Lacking Consistency
By M McGarry of Vancouver (1 Review)

We were looking for a great pasta place in White Rock. The Italian Touch? The first 2 visits, the food was superb, the people & experience were great, the view...magnificent! ...however on the third visit ...the same seafood pasta dish had significantly less seafood [?], and it was "bland"...and I re-iterate "bland". How could the chef create such a sub-standard product , knowing it was going to be served to a regular paying customer, that pays his/her wages? But then, it may have nothing to do with the chef, perhaps austerity measures by management? It was either a one off mistake, or someone just doesn't care. [and i feel badly for this review as the people are so nice]. In the end, I had to share my wife's disappointment...and embarrassment....and now what to do? Re-visit The Italian Touch...and "huckle" for more seafood and flavor while ordering the dish...or just go to the pub next door for a refreshment...and a walk...and eat at home.

Come for the patio, not the food

First time to visit this place in years. The patio as described is very nice, covered and uncovered deck, heated on one side. Great view, clean patio with minimal birds. For a sunny weekend day the patio was very understaffed, the waitress was curt and did not have the time to be attentive. I had a BLT, and I am not sure how you make a bad BLT, but they did. Crumbs of bacon with a funky tomato. Friend had a beef dip, it was lukewarm. It seemed to me that it was almost like the pub gets the business anyway so there is no need to try. Limited wine list. Aside from the view I wouldn't go with high expectations on much else.

A gem

This place is an undiscovered gem. The décor is funky to the extreme - a combination of old church pews and found treasures. The food is excellent. There's a limited menu, not too limited, and what they do, they do well. The Big Boy sandwich is to die for; finally someone who makes pulled pork without gloppy sweet BBQ sauce. The fries are real, not previously frozen, the service is very friendly and fast and I recommend this place without hesitation. This is an example of how a business can open in the Downtown Eastside and fit into the neighbourhood. It is possible to be "trendy" and not be "in your face".

Loved everything from beginning to end

A friend of mine from France came to Vancouver for a month; and after going to White Rock beach; we decided to look for a place to eat. I took him out to Langley and we decided to go to Andrea's.

I have been to the one in North Vancouver several times before, but first time to the Langley one. Upon entering I just loved the decor.....Yes. it is like being trapped in 1982.....and yes; I loved it (even if I was too young to remember 1982) even in the washroom the have an old hand dryer that was out dated (Don't worry they have soap and plenty of paper towel)

Anyways; for the food and service......We got served by a new waitress who was great and very attentive.

We both ordered a ceasar salad to start (mouth watering delicious) and for dinner I had Fettucini Alfredo with chicken and he ordered a Lasange. I enjoyed every bit.....he reported to me that his Lasange was good. And the prices were very cheap (not reasonable.....but cheap) We looked at the menu and were surprised that it was in comparison to Burger King prices (well maybe a bit more) but well worth everything. You defeinetly get your moneys worth here. Come try it, you have NOTHING to lose.....

Good and unique twist on Indian food. We left satisfied and full.Unlimited naan and rice is generous. Although the second batch of naan was super greasy. Chai was so good! I could have drank a pitcher of it to myself. Overall, a little pricy for what you get but always great to experience something new and different.

Best Chicken Souvlaki

I eat out about 4 times a week and Greek is my favorite. I use to go to this restaurant for lunch when it was different ownership and haven't bern back in a long time. I happen to try it today for convienence and I was pleasantly surprised. Their chicken is so moist and melted in my mouth. And it's one skewer of meat but equivalent to 2 skewers at other restaurants so don't let that throw you off. So glad I gave this place another chance. I will be back often :) I'm craving it again already.

Awesome spicy noodles soup

We come here in a group of 8 people in dinner time, they have private free parking here , so we can save a lot of time to find a parking spot within the rush hours. I order BUN BO HUE, aside from the spicy noodles soup. The broth was the most surprising, rich in flavour and a bit spicy. I love the Vietnamese Ham. It is very flavourful,Pork hock, thinly sliced beef also. My nephew, he addicted for COM SUON (lemon grass pork on rice) here, the bbq pork with honey was so delicious with special fish sauce, he said. My niece ordered SPECIAL Beef Noodles Soup ( pho dac biet) because she couldn’t eat spicy food. The broth was so nice with the best beef in town. My mum and dad ordered Pho Ga ( BBQ lemon grass chicken with noodles soup), the special food in town, you coudnt find this in any restaurant. My sis order the house special Chicken Wings, it crispy but too old, very juicy and flavour. Her husband preferred The Deep Fry Tofu On Vermicelli with special sauce because he is a vegetarian. Their daughter got the Kid Meal with a drink just about $5 something. All the food come with the drinks in the combo. Each combo about $10 or $11. The service was really quick and nice as well. The waitress even asked how were were doing half way through our meal! Never had that happen with me before in other Vietnamese restaurant ! The food is always perfect whether it be soup or rice or rolls… 1 more thing is the WC it was very clean.

this is my favorite place for roast pork in the area . There's a reason this place ALWAYS has a line. Seriously, though, it's totally worth the wait. The best roast pork, duck, and Chinese sausage I've ever had. The roast pork is perfectly seasoned and has awesomely crispy, crackly skin. You don't need to buy a whole Soy Chicken or BBQ Duck, you can just buy half. The nice man who chops will entertain almost every request.loves this place!

Cheap hot meal

Hello there,

Every time I pop by the VPL....I sometimes make a pit-stop to this little restaurant just next to Starbucks. Parking is expensive....one quarter I believe its 5 minutes..one dollar get you 20 minutes. As you step in...there is limited seating on the right and the back. The food cooler is to the left and the order cashier is right ahead of you. If you decide to have lunch at noon on a weekday there's a good lineup out the door as most people order takeout like myself. Dinner time is semi full as they close pretty late....10pm on weekdays, weekends and holidays till 9pm. Every item on the board menu is under $10 bucks so budget eats but limited selection. Service is fine for what it is...they take the order and you take a number.Lol

My favorites: rice bowls and tempura....Combo A Ebi-Ten bowl (2 prawn and 1/2 veg tempura, teriyaki chicken pieces on a bed of rice with mixed greens and Japanese mayo)$8.95....Combo B the Mega bowl same as above with mabo-tofu (spicy ground pork and cubed tofu)$9.75.... No. 1 teriyaki chicken on rice with salad and mayo $7.95 ....No.2 ten-don (6pc temp on rice) $7.95.....No. 4 katsu-curry bowl ( deep fried panko breaded pork cutlet and Japanese style curry on rice with shredded cabbage)$8.95.....the 6pc prawn tempura $6.75 or the $4.75 assorted tempura ( 3-prawns and 4 veggies).

Taste?? Tempura (usually made to order) comes out hot crisp and non greasy!! .They have this little machine.....drop battered prawn or veggie on one end...gets fried in the middle for a minute or two and comes out on the other side..automatically get picked by a convoyor belt on to a draining area. Pretty Cool. The teriyaki chicken are thigh meat pieces marinated in sweet soy...good stuff. Mabo-tofu is their version on a Sichuan ma-po dish....not bad..could use more hot bean paste. The pork cutlet is crisp and tender...the curry sauce is mild sweet heat with bits of shredded pork. I do have to admit I have tried their California roll and udon noodles...Roll was small and borderline mushy....passable. Tempura udon No.9..the tempura outshined the noodles and the base...inbetween grade here.

All in all... quick and cheap meal but pick the right one. They take cash, debit and I can't recall..credit cards. Thanks for reading.
