I have to say that Fatburger is a good place to eat burgers...the quality of the beef and fresh patties...not frozen. The lady at the cashier was friendly but I was looking at the staff in the kitchen and one did not have any gloves on...I saw here put the buns in the toaster and the cashier lady was working in the kitchen part but no gloves and I do not think she even washed her hands.
I usually say something about this....but I did not want to because she was a sweetheart and good service and also gave me a deal on the extra stamp....all in all the only think is not wearing gloves and please do not touch your face too much....and especially money......money is dirty!!!
I do hope someone reads my review and makes a change about this......burgers are pricey but they are not by far McDonald's.
Place is ok...a lot bigger than the other ones that I have seen so far. Just wash your hands and do not touch your face too much.
No complaints here. The food was good. Their recipes for fried fish, fries, and cole slaw are good. Their rolls are good. Their prices are fair. Service with a smile. A panhandler came into the restaurant while we were there, and the staff were nice to him. That impressed me. Overall, one doesn't expect with fish and chips to have some kind of a gustatory explosion of wonderfulness...it's just fish and chips after all. But I was not disappointed in any way, and I wish these guys continued good business.
There may be no Japanese restaurant like Hi Genki anywhere in North America, maybe the world? It's in a seniors home. The elderly people eat over there, and the customers eat over here. There's a Japanese-Canadian museum and cultural centre next door. The key to the washroom is attached to a giant wrench. Plain old utilitarian tables and chairs in cafeteria-style environment, a few Japanese decorations here and there - but nothing fancy - simple but decent Japanese food. Line ups to get in. Lots of parties ordering food both to eat there and to go. The most popular dishes as I gleaned from looking around - fish on the bone, which people were picking up and eating with their hands, and huge bowls of Japanese-style curry. Very nice servers. Inexpensive. Unique experience.
I have been to White Spot a many of times.....so obviously I do like it.
Yesterday was a disappointment though. I usually get a cheeseburger and fries and sometimes a side of dry ribs and think I am in wonderland.
Yesterday however; I decided to go with a friend for Fish and Chips. I ordered an extra piece of fish (with fries) my friend just had some wine and beer (go figure)
I've had their fish and chips quite a few times, so was disappointed to see how small 3 pieces of fish and some fries came to for $16.50...... It tasted fine, but the price didn't warrant it. I ordered some dry ribs to again this time. I ordered salt and pepper and notice at the Broadway location they bring a dip....side sauce and when I enquired this to the waitress she said they don't have it for their dry ribs (but they do) get it at other White Spot locations.
Service was mediocre this time.....Just like the food....Guess they didn't want to break the set.
We will return, but I think I am going to stick with Red Robin for fish and chips.....and do burgers at ither place
This little restaurant consistently makes the freshest, most delicious Nachos I've ever had. They are INCREDIBLE.
Fresh tortilla chips, very generous amounts of avocado, diced tomato, cheese, refried beans and more. Clearly made with passion.
They have impressive selection of different meats available, so there's plenty of different flavour combinations to explore.
It was a horrible experience! Bad service and a bit old sashimi! I don't recommend it at all! The only server in the store saw me was standing at the front door and she didn't try to say hi or whatever to me. After I found a seat that face to the window by myself, she didn't even try to give me the menu! I came towards her and asked for the menu at the end. Because of the sunlight, I asked her if I could change the seat. She replied me impatiently:" just wait!" I ordered sashimi for 1 and prawns tempura. I only ate half of the sashimi because I can see they were old. The prawns tempura was ok but used too much flour. I only paid 10% tips cause I felt there was no service at all! By the time I paid my bill, I gave the pos machine to her and told her "thank you". She didn't said anything back to me!
First, it's not authentic Vietnamese/Cambodian. It's Chinese-run - not that this is necessarily bad - but the Vietnamese writing on the menu, and the Vietnamese/Cambodian decor in the restaurant, almost makes it feel like the people who run the restaurant are trying to fool the customers. So, if it's not authentic Vietnamese/Cambodian, what is it? It's stodgy Chinese-Canadian food, essentially - greasy and heavy - but with a Vietnamese twist. Greasy and heavy oyster omelet...maybe there was a total of 2 oysters in the whole thing, chopped up into little pieces, barely noticeable. For 15 bucks plus tax and tip...a rip-off. Pea tips were good, but overpriced. Veggie dumplings were greasy and heavy. Overall, really disappointing considering all the hype Phnom Penh has been getting over the years. People were lined up, and we had to wait 20 minutes for a seat. Of course, people line up for the crap at Timmy's too. Not that Phnom Penh serves crap...just a really disappointing experience, and almost 50 bucks for lunch for two, without drinks, and to leave dissatisfied...tsk,tsk.
The Food: Wings are breaded or un-breaded, I usally go with the breaded because for me it enhances the flavor of the wing. Presentation was what I would expect from a sports bar. The prices where mid-high in my view, $10 for a lbs , $20 for 2lbs and so on. Overall these wings were good, it came out hot and flavorful. I have only been to this place five times, and it looks like I will have to keep going until I have tried all the 256 flavors. Having this many flavors I find is a bit over kill especially when you have the basic wing sauces and spices all mixed together creating all these sub flavors that are sometimes hit an miss. This makes the decision process much longer and harder, however waitress does carry a little guide with them, which I dig but life would be much easier if the had it on the menu.
I ordered my favorite, the Caribbean Jerk ( SISCO Brand Sauce). If you have never tried this sauce I would defiantly recommend it, it’s complete AWESOME! It’s the type of sauce that grows on you, the flavor is unique in it’s own right .The SISCO brand Caribbean Jerk sauce is rare, and most restaurants have stopped serving it because it’s not a great seller. So please my fellow wing people keep this sauce ALIVE!
El’ problmeo: Their happy hour specials on wings that runs from 3pm-6pm. There is no democracy on your choice of flavors, All-Stars only allows you choose from 6 flavors for $7.95, ever other flavor is regular $10.00. I’m sure there is a back story, BUT when you’re boasting 256 flavors then turn around and constraint your customers to only 6 flavors during happy hour doesn’t not sit well. Oh and the cover charge during UFC fight night is a little cheeky.
This place is a total bro bar, big boobs, bimbos, and big bone buckets . There is also TV at every booth playing sports so this might drive a few of you little crazy. Needless to say things are neat and well organized, it’s a great location, it’s bright, open, and has a nice layout. Service: Staff were nice, they where friendly , sincere and welcoming. Bathroom was very clean and well maintained. Yes the bathroom, so what who cares right! Think of it this way; if the staff don't care how the clean the bathroom is, then they don't care about how they make your food.
Despite the bro bar theme, the left wing happy hour special I would check this place because it’s wing focused, it has okay service, decent food, on the other hand in order to take advantage of all the 256 flavors I would recommend taking a posse of friends rather then go solo.
I have been a Sunrise resident for the last 5 years. I always enjoy going to the Red Wagon, it's a gem, and for locals that appreciate a greasy spoon , it's doesn't get any better than this. The place has a lot of character, staff are always pleasant , hard working ,and hearty. The food is great, I always pick the trucker or the $7 breaky. The pancakes are awesome sauce and the hash is so flavourful. Yes kids and hipsters it gets busy, staff get run off their feet, mistakes happen, be patient and there always willing to accommodate and fix things , don't create things in your head.
SPECIAL NOTICE: For those who are impatient, have a sense of entitlement or presume they have high standards, grow up! Good things comes to those who wait. If you came half way across Vancouver to wait 45 mins, then you are in for it for the long haul, deal with it. It's a great breakfast joint and there is only so much space so if you get fussy I'm sure the cooks can whip you up a nice poo sandwich!
Ordered Dynamite roll, Crispy roll and Veggie tempura for pick up. Food was ready right on time, prices fair for the quality. Hostess and chefs very friendly and welcoming. Food is amazing. Delicious and fresh and well worth my 15 minute drive. My 5 yr old wolfed down the Dynamite roll within minutes, it was so good. Will enjoy meal in restaurant next time
I dropped in for lunch today and really enjoyed it. I work in the area and until now there have been very few options for a healthy solid meal. I had the stuffed veg with potatoes and it was great.
The meal was a good size and was quite filling. I will go back again.
We have been coming here for years and always enjoy the food and view. One the we like about it is that it is a BAR not a restaurant. Therefore as a BAR it is first come first served find yourself a table. Not some stuck up waitress telling me when and where I can sit for my view. If you wasn't that go to the Boathouse or somewhere.
For take out its perfect! There is a small area in our local comer store that this amazing couple proudces fresh and delicious food. We've tried almost everything! The prices are great, food is great and the service is great. Support your local family, stop in on your way home or order ahead you won't be disappointed.
As I sit here after my admittedly very tasty meal (iceberg wedge salad with blue cheese sauce followed by a petit filet and veggies) I am still annoyed that I asked for some ciabatta bread with my meal and was told that the chef "said no because that bread is only for the escargot dish".
Are they joking? No, they aren't.
I was completely willing to pay $5 for a side of bread, but apparently the bread is just too valuable and can only be served with the escargot! Anyways, the silly arrogant chef brings this meal down from what would be a 5/5 to a 3/5. Maybe next time you can get there, chef!
On a side not the meal was great, waitress was great, if only I got what I politely asked for AND was willing to pay for!
So we enter a packed restaurant and are told that there is no waiting list for tables, but that we should wander around the restaurant until we find a table that is leaving???
There were in fact 5 people doing just that.....come on hire a host/hostess.
I don't want to circle the restaurant looking for people leaving, nor if I had a table would I want people looking at me to hurry up and leave.
I have eaten there before (didn't get to this time), food is just OK.
I grew up in Montreal so I am familiar with what the benchmark in Bagels is. Before people rave about this place they should first try some bagels fresh out of the oven at St. Viateur Bagel, Mount Royal Bagel, Queen Mary Bagel etc. etc. Rock Salt bagels would have a hard time competing in Montreal. Yes they are better than many places out west but that doesn't make them rave worthy. Firstly they are still too thick and doughy. So when you bite into it you get too much doughy center compared to crispy exterior. They are too heavy and not light enough. It takes years to develop a proper bagel making technique. They are still too much like a bun. They are also not crispy enough. Some of the ones I bought were sesame. Well the sesame seeds were not even toasty and crisp. That is a part of the flavor! Within hours they are no longer nice without maybe toasting them. I bought a half dozen for almost what I could buy a whole dozen for at St. Viateur. I also bought some smoked meat. The price was ridiculous to the point of insulting. But I wanted to try some. Hey this is brisket not Wagyu beef!! They better improve their sourcing because I can buy real Montreal smoked meat for less than half that price. YES right here in Vancouver!
Service is slow. To get my smoked meat she pulled out several small chunks wrapped in plastic bags. This caused discussion with other staff before showing them to me too choose. Both options were overly fatty. She sliced the meat extremely thin. Probably because when you order a sandwich it is paper thin. The texture of the meat was lost. The woman flinging the bagels seemed totally uninterested in what she was doing. Once flung she just walked back and sat down again to continue what she was doing. Not very inspiring quality control.
My husband and I got banned for life for complaining about the quality of the food. We ordered the Bam Bam Shrimp and Crispy Mozzarella Triangles which tasted like they had come out of a frozen package. After taking two bites, we complained to the manager about the quality of the food in disgust. This is when we were told that we were banned for life from the establishment. When asked for the reason why, we were told point blank that the reason we were being banned was because we had complained about the food. Even after offering to pay for the bread we had eaten (which was delicious and plentiful) we were told that our money would not be accepted and to leave immediately. Talk about unacceptably petty behaviour. Both my husband and I present in an alternative fashion and the feeling of being judged for it was palpable and part of the motivation for banning is was almost certainly the fact that we are 'undesirable clientele'.
To speak of the positives of the experience, not only was the bread very good but our waiter was incredibly helpful and got the manager for us immediately. Our complaint is, specifically, with the manager and the food quality.
Even were we not banned for life, my husband and I would never eat at this place again. We were treated poorly, the food was terrible and apparently if you complain you run the risk of being banned for life. The worst restaurant experience I have ever had.
I've been here for many times and never had a complaint. The food is great & the service is truly amazing. The food is great portioned , the value is simply fantastic...you get a good tasty soup, spring roll, and your main course…I love green curry & pad Thai here. i can eat here very often eve though lunch or dinner. My favourite Thai restaurant.
This is the seond time I went there and both times I didn't get any service and walked out!
Today I waited at the front for someone to seat me (about 3 minutes with NO acknowledgement) nad finalyy a waiter came by with a tray of empty glasses. As he walked by he asked where I wanted to sit, so I told him and he kept walking. I thought I was suppost to follow him so I did but then he walked into the kitchen so I waited again.
Finally, he came back and told me to sit any where I like, so I did. He brought me 2 drink menus and the fresh sheet but no regular menu. I waited about 10 minutes for him or any one to come back to take a drink order or check in, but no one did. I tried getting service from 2 other waitresses in the area but no one came over when I waved at them.
I gave up and walked out. No body paid any attention.
First time I went I at least had food. It was good but the service was also really bad then too! I had to flag donw the bartender to get the bill, even though my friend and I had wanted anothre drink and maybe desert. Sucks!!
And both times sevearal of the tables were dirty but no one was there.
It's like the waiters just don't care.
Worst service and delivery ever. The guy yells at the kids that work there and is soooo mean. In Poco it's known as the worst place to work. You only work there if you are desperate.
I tried to order pizza for delivery and they only accept cash or credit. What pizza place doesn't have a debit machine nowadays? So then they won't take my order until I give them my credit card info. I can't just pay when it comes? How fricking aggravating. So I go to find my card and they hang up on me. So I have to call back and reorder. I give all my info and then later the bimbo calls back and says that my card was rejected! Lol - it fully paid off always. Whata stupid place . Dumb girl probably couldn't figure out haw to do,it. They staff there is awful - bottom of the cuz no one wants to work ther. Don't support this bad place and nasty owners
