I can't believe we've never been here before even though we've driven by the establishment many times. The indoor decoration gives the traditional Indian vibe. That clearly translates on their food, which was out of this world. I used to like the Indian restaurant in my hometown but this is my new favourite. I was with my family when we ate at Handi. We enjoyed and shared the Garlic/Basil Naan, Eggplant Bhartha, samosas, Beef Curry, chicken tikka and my personal favourite the Lamb Methi! I can’t wait to go back to Handi restaurant!
Spoon Kitchen is great new spot for Thai & Malaysian food! It has very tasty dishes at a reasonable price. They take a modern twist on Malaysian food, which are very appetizing and eye pleasing with all the food presentation. Good thing their food taste great as it looks. I would recommend you to order the Coconut Tiger Prawns! Beef Rendang & Roti are also great best seller choices.
So glad we found this place! They have the most delicious crème brûlée creations I've ever tasted and I don't generally even like crème brûlée . Clearly, the owner is passionate about his craft and very proud of his creations, as he should be. We had the dulce de leche, durian and the panda coconut. Everything’s a taste of Heaven!
CinCin Restaurant and Bar takes the traditional flavors of Italy and adding a contemporary sophistication, makes you feel like you’re in Italy. They have amazing food and service in. Plus, desserts were the best!! Service was great, who checked up on us regularly. Also, staff explained each food item that arrived to the table. That extra attention to detail was a plus. It was nice of them to remind us what we ordered and what was on each plate. Never leave the place without trying their desserts!
I feel special whenever dining at Absinthe Bistro. For starters servers welcome you very warmly, making you feel at home. Their menu is tweaked on a weekly basis making me look forward to visit every week. Value for money is worth it as you can already have a 3 course meal for only $35. To top it off, their food taste authentic, very close to the food I’ve eaten in France. It is the perfect place for a date, or an intimate dinner with friends. Absinthe Bistro has definitely made my list of go-to places for affordable French food in Vancouver.
Sura has been my favorite restaurant in Vancouver. They're also by far serve the most authentic Korean cuisine. You can tell they pick the only use the best ingredients. If dumplings in other Korean restaurants would come from frozen packages, in Sura they make it from scratch. The service is always excellent even if they’re full packed with customers. Upon oredering, everyone gets their own banchan and boricha.- a roasted barley tea - at no charge. Whether you've never had Korean food and want to start off on a high note, or you like Korean food and want the best of it in the area, you should check them out.
I like going to Cactus Club because of its modern environment. All staff are dressed very nicely and they offer excellent service. I also commend them for their comfortable seats and clean washrooms. It is the best place to catch up with friends. I usually order their burgers. It was huge, had really good meat, gluten free bun, and came with a side of yam fries. Delicious and very fulfilling! What makes my dining experience special is their spectacular view. I’m always blown away on how beautiful it is. Best time to view would be at sunset. Cactus club is definitely one of my favorite places to dine.
Timkee Kitchen is one of the Chinese restaurants I keep coming back to. I typically order their pork BBQ, beef with broccoli and the chef`s best creation, Orange Peel Chicken. Surprisingly, they do not use MSG on all their dishes but still maintain the excellent, flavorful Chinese taste. It`s best to go to Timkee with family and friends because their portions are huge, enough for sharing. Service is friendly and casual but can be a little slow for impatient people. I would advice to either come during off/slow hours or simply getting some take-out.
Looking for authentic cheap Mexican thrills?? Adelitas may look sketchy from the outside but it is one of the most highly-regarded Mexican food restaurants in Vancouver. Delicious, authentic and innovative Mexican food is a point pride of Adelitas. I always start off with their Nachos filled with toppings that are perfectly stacked together. I also like ordering their Burrito as they serve everything up in Mexican Freshness. The best part is that they open till 11pm on most nights, which is perfect for those late night cravings!
Menu selection is not great, especially if you want brunch or breakfast. The greeter was friendly, but our server was none too friendly or helpful. Service was slow in fact - although the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived at 11:30am on a warm sunny Sunday morning.
We asked to sit on the upstairs patio, but could NOT - they wouldn't open the patio until noon.
That makes no sense - it's a hot sunny Sunday and I can't use the patio until after noon? Mmmkayy then.
We got a window seat on the 2nd floor, then spent a long time waiting for service. We both requested some hot sauce for our eggs, she said "sure" but the sauce didn't arrive until we almost finished the meals. (Great, thanks for bringing that...) Then she says "how are the first few bites tasting"? I bit my tongue and did not state the obvious fact that we were nearly finished. (I'll remind you - there were maybe 3 other tables seated in the entire place).
Also, the "fruit bowl" that came with my eggs benny had rotten fruit, as others have also stated.
There was literally green fuzzy mould on the top of the strawberry, I can't believe that left the kitchen.
The other fruits and berries were barely edible, I left the fruit bowl mostly untouched.
The restaurant interior is looking pretty tired and dark, definitely in need of a facelift.
Will not be going back to Boathouse...
Dave’s is in Steveston village. We stopped for dinner on a Friday evening. They have a very small menu that is centred around fish and seafood. My husband had 2 piece halibut and chips and I ordered the platter. The platter was supposed to have scallops but I told our server that I did not like scallops and could they substitute one of the other items she said they could either give me 1 more oyster or 2 extra shrimp. I asked for 2 extra shrimp. My platter came with 1 piece of my fish of my choice (cod, halibut or salmon). My platter consisted of 1 piece salmon, 1 oyster, 4 shrimp and chips. The fish was very well cooked and the serving was very generous. The batter on the fish was very light and crisp but the fish itself was nice and moist. The oyster and shrimp had panko coating instead of the regular batter that was on the fish. Although the panko coating was good I personally would have preferred the oyster and shrimp with the regular batter.
It’s a very cute restaurant decorated in blue and white. It has a mixed clientele. The service was very good. Our server was very friendly and efficient.
Dave’s is a good stop if you’re in Steveston and have a craving for good fish and chips. We had a nice walk around the village after dinner.
We took some people from Ireland for lunch to the Water St. Cafe this past Friday. What a mistake.
The service was non-existent even if the server used his French accent to suggest we were 'fine dining'.
The caesar salad for two was wilted iceberg (why not romaine) lettuce with splashes of brown. The croutons so hard as to loosen your fillings. Our four meals were something that anyone could replicate with less than fresh ingredients in any kitchen. How do they charge $24 for three tiny pieces of veal scallopini with two small potatoes and a slice of bell pepper?
The server was slow in taking the hint our meal was over. At a cost of $150 (small tip included) for four people I think there are many other places in Gastown to dine where the service and food is better!
Been here on three different occasions before (2 of them before Dinehere.ca) and once in 2008, and again last night. EVERY TIME the service was terrible.....and once the food too. Last time (2008) waitress was a total B_tch.......we complained about food; restaurant didn't bother to rectify the situation.
Anyhow, let bygones be bygones......Tonight my parents and uncle wanted to go to West Vancouver and brought up coming to this restaurant....I thought "3 times before and each sucked" but realized that way quite a few years ago and well let's hope for the best"
What a 360 degree turn.....Greeted immediately and were on the patio outside. This time we had a friendly waitress and the food was very enjoyable and tasty.
My mom ordered a bunch of pita bread (???????) ha ha, but for dinner she ordered mousaka......Dad had fish and chips as did my uncle. I ordered fettucini alfredo and a ceasar salad. we also ordered calamari appetizer and saganaki to share the 4 of us.
The saganaki try as you might goes hard quickly....but that's anywhere.....somehow they only know how to make it in Greece......
The Calamari this time was great. Back in 2008 when we came, who knows what they served us, but presented it as Calamari and even argued with us that it was calamari when it wasn't.
Oh and the first time in the mid 90's (when I was a young teenager....13) my parents, my mom's best friend and her husband and their 2 kids (14 and 23) we all came here; mom's friend husband ordered calamari and he didn't like it and returned it. We waited SO LONG for our food, that my mom's friend starting getting very mad at the waiter saying it's taking forever; our appetite has diminished and they were seriously considering canceling the whole order and going to eat elsewhere......but since there were two teenagers who had school the next day decided to just stick around.......and they never took the calamari off the bill; and the other parties daughter had to fight the waiter to get it off the bill
Anyways, back to (2015) The Calamari was fantastic, the Ceasar salad was delicious.....And my fetticini alfredo? well to be honest, I would had been more happier with a bigger portion for the price.....but you know how good fettucini tasted in the restaurants in the late 80's and 90's, but now alot of restaurants use cheap ingredients so quality goes down? Well it looks like they didn't down grade and it tastes the way fettucini alfredo should taste.
My dad and uncle weren't too fond of their food, but then again Dad doesn't usually go out for fish and chips and probably would had prefered steak.......Don't know what my uncles issue was (he seems picky anyways) Mom thought her mousaka was ok. I was ready for disapointment; but thought it was fantastic food......Totally a turn around from the other times I came......Good job!!!!!!!!
I was glad to come here after all, I was happy with EVERYTHING this time. Will return next time in West Van
Came here for Saturday brunch. The eggs benny was disappointing, luke warm and eggs were over done. The sides were disappointing - hash brown potatoes were not hot and the fruit salad looked like it came straight from a can. The bread they use for french toast was thin - prefer thicker texas toast
I have been here for dinner service and the food is so much better - perhaps they have different chefs?
Bottom line is there are better choices in the South Granville Neighbourhood for brunch like Luke's or Heirloom
beautiful evening in Vancouver. we looked for a great patio to eat outside and chill Winston is a natural choice. unfortunately the evening is ruined because of poor service and poor management. long line up outside even if many tables are available. waitress is rude to customers and management seems disorganized. sad.... such potential. after a few hours, we just had to leave and finish our beautiful evening at a nearbyJapanese restaurants that was happy to have customers.
When I first heard this pizzeria opened in the Morgan Crossing area, I decided to order a pizza for pick-up to give it a try. I tried the large Cavoletti and Siciliana pizza. The lady on the phone line taking my order was extremely unpleasant and rude, and had quite a hard time understanding my order. When I took the pizzas home, they were just as bad as the service I got. Both of them were horrendous -- they had burnt, thin, and flimsy crusts, and the toppings were scarce and falling all over the pizza. I decided to give it another go a few months later, hoping it would have improved by then, but unfortunately I received the exact same results. Overall, Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria was an extremely unpleasant experience and I highly recommend stopping by Classic O.P. Pizza or Little Caesar's if you're looking for much better pizza in the area.
Went out here with my husband for lunch a while back. We had previously been shopping at the Semiahmoo mall and noticed this place nearby while walking in search for a place to eat. We were seated immediately upon arrival. I had the small house noodle soup, and my husband had the large. We also ordered a side of spring rolls. The food arrived very quickly. The soup was a little salty for my taste, but enjoyable nonetheless. The noodles were stable and had a good texture, and the beef was very well done. The spring rolls were crispy, hot and just the right taste. The only problem I had was that the small soup was much less in size than the large, but a much smaller difference regarding the price. Despite that being so, the meal didn't seem too pricey. Not cheap, but not expensive either. The environment was very clean and pleasant; the tables were constantly being kept clean by the waitresses and the decorations are nice to look at. The next time I have a chance to stop by here, I'd love to try the Cambodian cuisine. Overall, in my opinion, River Mekong is the best place to stop for pho in the South Surrey neighbourhood.
I have been here a number of times (and will continue to come) The pasta plates are in fact HUGE. The quality has probably gone down from what it used to be.......but it's still good.....Just not fantastic.....but you can't go wrong with a chicken fettucini plate for $17 (and last time I actually finished the whole thing and got my pen) ceasar sald is actually really delicious (always share that with my friends) and the restaurant still has a retro feeling to it.
I think it's great and you get a big bang for your buck for sure......As everywhere else, quality is not as great as it was before (but that's almost every where) You have nothing to lose......you must come at least once and try it. If people are still lining up to come here (at least on Fridays and Saturdays anyways) that must tell you that it's at least worth seeing and trying
great food great service Wanita and the crew made the magic happen authentic indian with a great taste. The chicken masala and lamb curry divine. Tandoori wings as starters not to be missed . They went above an beyond with making sure our party was well fed and served. Nice oyster bay NZ merlot finished the meal of nicely. Thanks for a great night
Up until recently, I had been a regular visitor to this establishment STRICTLY for the musical entertainment FURNISHED by the hired karaoke company. For the last few months, that had also gone "downhill" owing to the poor amount of clientele going to this establishment on the weekdays.
If you wanted to order something to drink or eat, you had to wait for a long time to be served. If you ordered something nonalcoholic because you were driving; and went to pay the BILL, you suddenly found that, instead of a small amount for a pop or, even water; you were served with a bill for $10 which the owner gave to you saying that this was the minimum rate, and that "everyone knows that". I should mention, however, that nowhere listed in the menu, on the walls/doors, or even on their own website is this mandatory "minimum rate" put in writing.
Although the service by the waitresses was adequate, the service by the owner, however, leaves much to be desired, as she is more interested in looking at her text messages on her cell phone then she was dealing with her customers. Any tips given to her employees, however, made their way into her pocket at the end of the night.
