We frequently take-out from this restaurant.
Pros: The food portions are very large and we always order the house roll.
Cons: There has been a few mix-ups (twice out of ~12 orders) with the food we ordered. I.e. We ordered Unagi Roll (Eel), but received some other roll in the box.
I always recommend double checking your order in the box before leaving.
Solid sushi restaurant when no order mix-ups happen.
I had dinner here a couple of nights ago and I highly recommend this place, I'm a vegetarian and they have some very good vegetarian options on the menu, I appreciate this because it is really hard to find in other restaurants. Prices are good and the service is fast.
Used to be a great deli for many years under different owners. Had the worst pastrami sandwich of my life. It was small & so salty I could barely finish it. Sort of self serve & asked for water which you needed to fight the salt but never got it. The sandwich was small & got cole slaw which was ok & it was $ 14.75. Never go back
We came in for a birthday celebration on Thursday and the place was packed. Our reservation was for 7 pm but when we arrived at around ~6.30ish there was hardly any room to move around. Once we got to our seats, everything went by smoothly. The atmosphere is very warm, calm and welcoming, and the staff is precise and attentive. Our tortellini gorgonzola was delicious, as were the rest of the dishes. Coming here at first might not be very appetizing, small stairs going up to the second floor but once you get inside and try the food is it definitely worth it. Plus, the view you get from Robson is unparalleled.
I had never heard of this place until recently when I saw an ad of them online. Called them up to double check, a standard practice I do with every new place I am going to eat. Call me paranoid but after inquiring them and checking up their website, I was convinced.
The pizza took a little longer than expected to arrive. I mistakenly ordered the special preparation of my pizza, deep dish style and apparently it needs to be heater for longer because of its shape and the amount of sauce and cheese that go into it.
We had the house special with LOTS of toppings - pepperoni, mushrooms, ham, green peppers...and on and on. You name it. The taste was delicious, but a little too much for me. I prefer their normal style pizza, but my roomie really liked the leftovers.
Went with a buddy, He had 4 flavours of taco (Canitas, Carne Asada, Pollo, Birria) I had a Carnitas Taco and Torta Ahogada.
The service was quick, quiet and friendly. The restaurant was clean and interesting (it is a store for Mexican products as well as a restaurant)
We both decided we will have to return and try more of the menu on another night.
I ordered the #3 boxed lunch today. It contained two pieces of very greasy tempura, a greasy spring roll, a salad, chicken teriyaki, three potstickers, some ginger, and some wasabi. Alongside was a dipping sauce for the tempura. The wasabi was an unusual colour of mint green. The filling of the potstickers was grey. I have no idea what it was, but it was a tasteless mush. The dipping sauce tasted like water with a little brown colouring in it. The chicken teriyaki was cool to the touch, so maybe their temperatures should be checked out by Vancouver Coastal Health. I brought all of these issues to the attention of the waitress, a waiter, and the cashier. Nobody seemed to care. I asked both waitresses and the waiter what was in the tempura dipping sauce (because it was so horrid) and each one of them said, in a listless manner, "I don't know." The salad wasn't bad, but everything else was awful.
I've been to this restaurant a few times , twice in the past three weeks. The delicious smell of curry hits you as soon as you open the door. I must say they are very consistent. I love tandoori chicken and theirs is some of the best I have ever had. The right amount of spice, pipping hot and juicy, never dry. Quite the feat as I have had some very dry tandoori chicken at some places.
Their curries are delicious as well and always spiced the way you want it. If you want hot be warned , their hot really is hot. I also love their naan. Always order the garlic naan, hot and fresh.
As for service I have never had a problem. Usually there when you need them. For me, this is one of the best Indian Restaurants in Vancouver.
Kintaro has been a staple for me as long as I can remember. It serves classic ramen noodles in the most tasty and inventive ways. While there are the standard options to choose from, it is also home to the cheese ramen. Not for the faint hearted, it is actually quite thick, and the broth is a little too salty for my taste (apparently not for my bf's). Im not much of a cheese fan; the spicy garlic option is much tastier in my opinion.
And while the ramen is one of the best I've had, the experience could do with a little improvement. At least in my most recent experience. Service is extremely slow and the server can be a little disinterested in serving you sometimes. Going in groups of more than 3 is a problem, as the place is tiny and is full of people. We always have to wait to get seated and once inside it is quite narrow and cramped which makes one get claustrophobic.
Upon recommendation from a friend, I decided to get some pizza from this place. I wasn't really sure about it but the prices seemed decent and the website looked reliable, so I decided to place an order. I got a Chicago chicken deep dish crust and found it's taste interesting, but in a good way. The pizza was thick, almost like a pie, and I had to eat with with a fork and knife. I've never been to Chicago but this pizza was pretty good. It comes with lots of cheese and tomato in this style, which was a plus, especially after a long day at work and school.
The delivery is timely; the delivery boy even waited for me once when I took forever to come down. This is the second time I am ordering from the experience I found them to be good enough for my money.
For a place that advertises themselves as having an all you can eat lunch buffet, it is pretty good. The food did not look soggy or old and untasty. There's lots of places that are close to university which are cheaper but this one takes the cake for the food. The chicken curry is delicious - I love the fact that they have made the sauce thick and consistent and not too watery. I got the low spicy level and still managed to enjoy the taste. My roomie opted for the aloo gobhi and eggplant and found an array of vegan dish dishes to try from. The dine-in menu can be a off our budget to make it a regular place to eat, but for the lunch buffet or daily deals it is good enough.
Came here on a saturday morning. It was busy because of a soccer tournament in th area, But we were served fairly quickly. Had the standard bacon and eggs hasbrowns and toast for a little over $7. Not a super steal like at Amigo Pancake house but cooked well, and fast. Young staff was very polite and I always notice how nice they are at A&Ws to seniors. They really know their regulars and take care of them. One young kid about 17 noticed a regular elderly gentleman standing in line, poured his usual coffee and escorted him out of the line to a table where he waited until the line died down and went up to order. I was really impressed. Give this place a try for breakfast!
Although the foreign staff are very pleasant, after many hunger-driven, after-midnight trips to A&W, I have come to the conclusion that they don't understand or care how to construct a delicious, mouth-watering hamburger. Too much mayo sauce and oversized leaves of lettuce thrown into a bun with no care or pride whatsoever make for a slimy, mushy, stomach-churning mess. The late-night staff needs to be retrained by hamburger-eating chefs. I will not waste another dime on this place or any other North Vancouver A&Ws until they train their staff to make good, presentable hamburgers. The ingredients are good, the staff courteous, but their hamburgers are terrible and they shouldn't be. I blame the managers, who clearly don't seem to care any more than the staff do.
Second time in this place in the past three weeks mainly for their $3.00 Pabst Beer Happy Hour special and the big screen tv to watch the ball game right up at the bar.
Came in was greeted by the hostess immediately, told her I was going to sit up at the bar. Proceeded to sit at the big long bar table with exactly two other people there. Plunked myself down and waited. The bartender was consumed with something on the phone had his back towards me no acknowledge yet of my presence, no glance my way , no "just a minute be right with you". So far hasn't even noticed me. By the way, I am huge.
Ok, here comes someone else behind the bar. No acknowledgement of my presence from this guy either.
Walks right by me and goes to this couple one stool over because they wanted to pay their bill. Still no glance my way, no acknowledgement of my presence from bartender number two. They aren't even busy.
I thought okay after he takes care of this person I am sure one of them will ask me if i want something because that is why I am sitting at the bar at a restaurant that serves both beverages and food. Bartender number one, the guy on the phone when I first got there has now left the bar area is doing something else. Bartender number two takes the money from the couple paying they leave and he disappears. The invisible man grabs his bag and leaves Wings most likely never to come back again.
A lot has been said about the lousy service in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland in general. I have received some excellent service at places, mediocre but most often lousy, inattentive just plain bad service. You really have to shake your head. Serves expect tips, 15 per cent, 20 per cent in some places now they expect you to hit 25 per cent on the debit or credit card machine. In my view, many don't earn it. Is it lack of interest in the job they are doing, boredom, pure laziness? Many times it's not because they are run off their feet and they are just too damn busy. I believe a lot of the poor service you receive is also because of poor training and leadership.
Anyway, that's my little "service" rant about Wings.
First time there ordered their happy hour wing special. For a place with the name "Wings" in their name they should stand out and excel at what they present. For the most part these were sad. A small portion with more bone and skin than anything else.
When it first opened about a year ago, it WAS Delicious, when MILD was truly mild curry.
That's what made them different from all other Indian Resturants.Although it's expensive and adds up quickly,
As each item is separately billed- no such menu item as "complete dinner" plate (rice, meat, bread..)
Now they are the same as the " run of the mill " Indian Restaurants.
We suspect they had a real chef when first opened..when mild medium or hot choices were true...
Lunch yesterday, for 2 people itemized-
1 Butter Chicken Dish, Mild. 12.95
1 Lamb Curry Dish, Mild. 13.95
1 Beef Curry Dish, Mild. 12.95
1 Pulao Rice. 4.95
3 Naan bread. 5.85
3 Roti Bread. 5.85
1 Raita (yoghurt). 3.50.
Server came asked how our meal is... We said very Hot!
She said, "you ordered mild"
We said our tongues are burning can we have more water.
server brought more water.(3 times)
We said we can't eat the curry it is fire!
Server came to our table with a dish of Raita yogurt and said this should help cool it.
We did not complete or enjoy the meats, then we got our Bill and was charged for the Yogurt! At no time did they offer to correct or re- make our order to mild.
It was so Hot we could not taste, their mistake, or ours?
Will never go back or ever recommend.
i Been here plenty of times. Very tasty and delicious.
I've gotten their kebab plates, butter chicken, and rice plates.
They are always really nice and accommodating to substitutions.
i think they always make fresh items at a time that why so tasty i love there food
i am addicted staff also so friendly
Best Dim Sum I have had in a long time! One of my Chinese friends had told me that Luxe was the best place in the area for good Chinese food, and we were not disappointed. The service was quick, friendly and we got all our food at high rate of speed! Everything we had was great, plus the sesame balls for dessert. I read a bad review about the washroom, but I didn't have to use them, so I can't say anything... I will definitely go back.
This particular location has an "apparent" high change-over in staff, and, as a result, you will receive inconsistent service. There are time when I will get a free refill, other times, I am billed the same as a non-refill, and even at other times I am billed $160 for half a cup! This is unacceptable!
And, though the coffee is "good" - I would not say that it is at all "exceptional".
The facility is generally quite cold, and the food appears to be "big store" purchased.
Lastly, the staff really needs to understand what it means to provide "service" - and many of the staff have faces that would seem to portray "I would rather be doing something else".
If there were another location, I would go there in a heart-beat.
We bought the $39 Groupon for 2 hotpot combos and went tonight. The meat, drinks, and desserts were great, and service was fast, but we were not served the veggie plates and chef's choice side dishes.
We did not discover these major omissions until we got home and checked on the Groupon site ourselves, so shame on us for failing to read the deal completely before we went, but you'd think that the restaurant would have remembered, considering that this was not the first day/night they served this Groupon deal of theirs, and all the other diners around us were being served the Groupon deals correctly and in full.
So my experience is quite disappointing, to say the least.
BEING SERVED HALF THE ADVERTISED DEAL IS NOT WORTH THE $10 TIP WE LEFT.
Our experience ordering take out from this restaurant was awful. I would not normally take time to write a review but I feel that I was ripped off by this place and I want to warn other people before they spend their money here. We ordered the baked meat lasagna which was cold and also tasted like a microwave lasagna you would buy from a grocery store. The cheese bread we ordered was hard as a rock and seemed like it had been left out for hours. We paid 40 dollars for this food. I feel like It would have been a better idea to go to the grocery store and buy a loaf of plain bread and a can of chef Bogarde pasta. We gave this restaurant a rating of 1 out of 5 because It was obvious that this restaurant does not care about the quality of food it sends out the door. To be fair, I don't know what the experience is like at the restaurant because I have never actually been inside but after this experience I will never eat there again.
